WILL $10 MILLION MAKE US SAFER IN CANADA?
March 13, 2026: Three synagogues were shot at in the greater Toronto area in the span of a week. Canada’s leaders condemned them with words but did little. Prior to that, our children were targeted by pro-Palestinian groups for going to camp, but nothing was done. Our neighbourhoods and event gatherings were repeatedly targeted by masked pro-Hamas men and women, but everyone chose to look the other way. Ottawa earmarked $10 million to protect Jewish institutions after the gunfire attacks. But that is not enough. This is a national emergency. Ten-million dollars to protect one of this nation’s most productive and contributing communities is insulting. It’s an admission that authorities cannot protect us. If anything, to immediately protect our community from further shootings, police must be installed at every Jewish institution across the land, no matter cost. Our country is brilliant at smiling, condemning, and giving money to quiet problems. Read more HERE

AGPI CONDEMNS ATTACKS ON SYNAGOGUES WORLDWIDE:
The Abraham Global Peace Initiative (AGPI) strongly condemns the attack targeting Temple Israel in the Detroit area. Also two terror attacks on synagogues happened in the heart of Europe within days: first in Liège, now in Rotterdam. These disturbing incidents follows the gunfire attacks on three synagogues in the Greater Toronto Area earlier this week, highlighting a dangerous escalation of violence against Jewish institutions in North America. Synagogues are houses of worship, not targets. Yet Jewish communities are increasingly forced to live under threat simply for gathering to pray. Read more HERE

DRIVE BY SHOOTING AT TORONTO SYNAGOGUES:
March 7, 2026: As we awoke this Shabbat morning, we learned of two terrorist attacks against prominent synagogues in the Greater Toronto Area. The front entrances of Thornhill’s Beth Avraham Yoseph and Toronto’s Shaarei Shomayim Synagogues were riddled with bullets overnight. These frightening attacks follow a shooting earlier this week at Temple Emanu-El in North York. The Abraham Global Peace Initiative’s Chairman and CEO, Avi Abraham Benlolo, met with York Regional Police Deputy Chief Kevin McCloskey and Deputy Chief Paulo Da Silva in front of the BAYT Synagogue in Thornhill to discuss the overnight attack. AGPI MEETS WITH ISRAEL'S CHAIR OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND DEFENSE COMMITTEE:
March 12, 2026: MK Boaz Bismuth addressed AGPI's leadership about Israel’s war against Iran and Hezbollah, outlining the strategic objectives required to restore long-term security. He emphasized Iran as the central threat to regional stability and discussed Hezbollah’s role as Iran’s forward military force. The conversation also explored Israel’s military resilience, the lessons learned since October 7, and the importance of national unity during wartime. Watch full video of Bismuth's remarks HERE.

AGPI DEMANDS TORONTO BAN OF AL QUDS DAY:
AGPI calls on authorities to prohibit Al Quds Day demonstrations this weekend in Toronto and across Canada. With Toronto already reeling from synagogue shootings this week, Canada must place community safety first and prevent events that risk inflaming tensions or intimidating Jewish Canadians.Founded by the Iranian regime, Al Quds Day in its very essence calls for the destruction of Israel and has long been associated with hateful rhetoric that fosters hostility, toxicity, and the potential for violence. AN INTENSIVE WEEK IN ISRAEL:
Israel has endured an intensive week of war as Iranian missile attacks continue to target civilian areas. Last night alone, an Iranian ballistic missile strike wounded nearly 60 people in northern Israel and damaged homes, while nightly barrages have repeatedly forced families across the country into bomb shelters as sirens sound after midnight. Despite the constant threat, Israeli civilians remain resilient and emergency services continue working around the clock. The Abraham Global Peace Initiative (AGPI) strongly condemns Iran’s deliberate targeting of civilian populations, which constitutes a clear violation of international law and a war crime, and calls on the international community to hold the Iranian regime accountable.

ANTISEMITISM & DEVELOPMENTS ACROSS EUROPE:
March 9-13, 2026: Across Europe, a troubling wave of antisemitic incidents has been reported. In Liège, Belgium, an explosion outside a synagogue is suspected to be antisemitic. In Sarcelles, France, a 14-year-old Jewish girl was assaulted, called a “dirty Jew,” and threatened with death. British police are investigating antisemitic abuse during an under-15 football match involving a Jewish school. A Brussels study found persistent antisemitic stereotypes across political and social groups. In Switzerland, authorities recorded thousands of incidents in 2025, mostly online. Meanwhile, police in Rotterdam are investigating an overnight arson attack on a synagogue, heightening fears and prompting renewed calls for stronger protections for Jewish communities. AGPI CONDEMNS SPAIN FOR WITHDRAWING AMBASSADOR:
This week, The Abraham Global Peace Initiative (AGPI) strongly condemned the Government of Spain for its decision to withdraw its ambassador from Israel — a democratic ally — while maintaining diplomatic relations with some of the world’s most notorious human rights abusers. Rather than withdrawing ambassadors from regimes such as Iran, Syria, North Korea, and other authoritarian states that openly oppress their citizens and export violence across the globe, Spain has chosen to downgrade relations with the Middle East’s only democracy. This decision exposes a troubling double standard and sends a dangerous message about Spain’s moral compass. Read more HERE

AGPI LAUNCHES NEW DIALOGUE BETWEEN MUSLIMS AND JEWS:
AGPI is scheduling its cross-Canada tour called, "In Search of Peace: How Muslims and Jews can find a way forward". The tour features a fireside chat between Muslim and Jewish leaders, Raheel Raza and Avi Abraham Benlolo. Both have worked together for some 25 years on various projects to bring both sides together, especially at a time of conflict and strife. If you would like to host the dialogue at your organization (eg. Synagogue, Church, Mosque), please send us an email to office@agpi.ca

AGPI EDUCATION DEPARTMENT FOCUSES ON CURRICULUM:
This week, as schools prepare for March Break, the Education Department used the time to focus on research, monitoring, and institutional engagement around antisemitism in educational environments. Our team examined emerging cases in Toronto, Edinburgh, and Philadelphia, highlighting how curriculum design, campus activism, and institutional silence can normalize hostility toward Jewish students. As part of this work, Dr. Neil Orlowsky, AGPI’s Director of Education, contacted the leadership of the School District of Philadelphia and the U.S. Department of Education regarding concerns about curricular framing and student safety. Several AGPI exhibit launches across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area will resume immediately after March Break. As Dr. Orlowsky notes, protecting Jewish students requires both educational clarity and institutional courage. To learn more about our educational work or to book an exhibit, contact Dr Orlowsky at norlowsky@agpi.ca

THE UN'S SHAMEFUL ENABLING OF IRAN:
In last week's National Post, we wrote: "If they could mass-murder their own citizens, imagine what they would do to all of us with a nuke. But even this basic thinking doesn’t move the needle for UN Secretary-General António Guterres, who recently congratulated Iran on marking its 1979 revolution. He was quick to condemn the attack. “The strikes by the U.S. and Israel against Iran … undermine international security.” For decades, the UN failed to curtail Iran’s nuclear ambitions and global terrorism. Instead, Iran was recently appointed to vice-chair the UN Commission for Social Development. In 2023 it was appointed to chair the Human Rights Council and let’s not forget, in 2023 it was also elected as one of the vice-presidents of the UN General Assembly.
